Leclerc on 2026 car being tailored to Hamilton: "I'm not worried about that at all"

Leclerc on 2026 car being tailored to Hamilton: "I'm not worried about that at all"

A new era awaits Formula 1 in 2026. Ferrari will continue to race with its current driver duo, Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, next season, where technical aspects of the cars, such as the chassis and power units, will be heavily modified.

Hamilton, who drove the SF-25 in his first season with Ferrari, has often highlighted various issues he encountered with the car in interviews. The first half of the season was spent adjusting to the car for Hamilton. However, the same wasn't true for his teammate Leclerc, a Ferrari veteran. The Monegasque driver had a less challenging first half than the Briton.

Hamilton is looking to make a strong start to the 2026 season, and there's always the possibility that Ferrari will tailor the car to the British driver next season. Leclerc, however, stated that he has no problem with the car being adapted to a driving style he's not used to.

“I'm not worried at all because it's a big conversation outside the team, but inside the team we have all the tools to adjust the car to my driving style or Lewis',” Leclerc said.

"So I don't think it's a problem. I just want to have the fastest car possible next year. That's exactly what Lewis wants as well. Wherever we are next year, Lewis and I will set up the car the way we like it."

Leclerc stated that Ferrari's priority is to put the fastest car on the grid on the track, adding that adjustments and developments for the driver are secondary.

"I'm not really worried about that," the Monegasque driver said. "We're at a point where Formula 1, the engineers and the technology have come to the point where we just need the fastest car."

“As long as we put the fastest car on the track, we are free to do anything.”

"It's not like 10 or 15 years ago when you were cornered in terms of balance and didn't have the tools to make the car faster. Now we have the tools to do that, so I'm certainly not worried," he said.
